Context
In 2019,the American Interprofessional Health Collaborative (AIHC) and the National Center for Interprofessional Practice and Education (NationalCenter) charged the Interprofessional Education (IPE) Organizational Models Task Force to study the landscape of IPE organizational models in the United States (U.S.). The National Center/AIHC executive leadership team appointed taskforce members based upon their expertise and experience. The distribution and analysis of this first Organizational Models Survey (version1.0, conducted in 2019) created a benchmark for the foundation of knowledge surrounding IPE operationalization around the  country (Shrader et al.,2020). This survey is intended to be administered longitudinally to observe changes in the IPE landscape. A new taskforce administered and analyzed version 2.0 in 2022. Some members of this taskforce carried over from version1.0 and some new members were added via an application process from the full AIHC membership. The initial survey (version1.0) was re-evaluated and some changes were made in the creation of version 2.0,as noted throughout the report.  The National Center provides the leadership, evidence and resources needed to guide the nation on the use of IPE and collaborative practice. AIHC is the professional community of the National Center committed to promoting IPE scholarship.

A manuscript detailing the national survey results on organizational structure and resources of IPE programs in the United States conducted by the AIHC/National Center Organizational Models Task force was recently published in the Journal of Interprofessional Education & Practice and is available here.

Dr. Barbara Brandt, National Center Founding Director, wrote an accompanying editorial for the Journal of Interprofessional Education & Practice discussing what the survey findings mean for the current state of IPE and how they might help us look toward the future of the field. Visit the nexusipe.org Resource Center to learn more about the editorial and read the full version.
